How to go to Mount Hiuchi 火打山
Take a bus from Myokokogen Station 妙高高原駅 to Sasagamine Bus Stop 笹ヶ峰バス停 to start the climb to Mount Hiuchi 火打山. We strongly recommend to visit the nearby Mount Myoko 妙高山, another member of the famous 100 Japanese mountains, as well while you are there.

Hiking Trails to Mount Hiuchi 火打山
There are 2 main trails we would recommend to hike up Mount Hiuchi 火打山.
- Sasagamine Trail 笹ヶ峰コース
- Hiuchi Myoko Trail 妙高火打コース
There is 1 main entrance to Mount Hiuchi 火打山. It can be reached from Sasagamine Bus Stop 笹ヶ峰バス停.
There are also campsites at Sasagamine Bus Stop 笹ヶ峰バス停 for hikers to camp overnight and start the hike early the next day. Do give it a consideration.
Myokokogen Station 妙高高原駅
The Sasagamine Direct Bus 笹ヶ峰直行バス operates from Jul 13, 2024 (Sat) to Oct 27, 2024 (Sun).
During this period, the Sasagamine Direct Bus 笹ヶ峰直行バス makes 3 trips during the weekends and public holidays, but only makes only 1 trip during the weekdays.

It will be difficult, although not impossible, to stay over somewhere on Mount Hiuchi 火打山.
You will probably want to enjoy your hike and not have to rush to catch the last bus from Sasagamine Bus Stop 笹ヶ峰バス停, which leaves pretty early.
The only candidate is the Koyaike Hutte 高谷池ヒュッテ.

If you are thinking of conquering Mount Myoko 妙高山 as well, you can descend from Tsubame Onsen 燕温泉 for a good dip in the onsen after what is possibly a strenuous activity, or via the Myoko Kogen Sky Cable 妙高高原スカイケーブル for an easier descend.
